RE: Deadline

Read the first page of the book you sent me, The Roofer. It has seventeen hundred and forty-nine more (I counted by hand, didn't just trust the page-numbers on that one). Obviously I didn't have time to get through the whole thing but I did read the blurb very extensively. Attaching my review here — this will do, right?

Celebrating Bømlovian culture... in English???

As a Minnesota-based lifelong Bømlovenn, or friend of Bømlovian culture, I was delighted to learn of the publication of the Bømlo Review of Books. Imagine my dismay when I realized that your so-called "Review" would be publishing exclusively in a lead-footed, artless bastardized parody of Norwegian... I refer, of course, to the English (pseudo) Language. This seems as fruitless as if Michelangelo had painted the roof of the Sistine Chapel using Spanish, instead of his native Italian.

Funding

Hallaien! Just wanted to check in on the progress of your book-review magazine. While we're always keen to encourage culture in Norway, some of the other government bureaucrats are a little concerned that we have now put in 16 million kroner and there is not yet any publication to show for it. Can you please update me with regard to the progress of your Bømlo Review of Books?

Low editing standards

Glancing through your "sneak peak [sic]" preview of the Bømlo Review of Books' inaugural edition, I was disturbed to note the journal's alarmingly low editorial standards. The reviews themselves are dogged by inconsistent formatting, together with a plethora of minor but by no means insignificant spelling and grammatical errors. No doubt, having taken the liberty of highlighting these flaws, I should be wary of falling victim to Muphry's law, which states that anyone pointing out tpyos is likely to commit a mistake of their own, but for the sake of the journal's reputation I hope you will consider hiring one of the many young and talented editors from the Bømlo area. In addition, I noticed that shoddy editing has resulted in some of the contributions to your letters page getting cut off before they have time to
